Love the Jesus Trump piece. Arlene and I were at that White House event ,too. I will never forget the moment when diminutive Dani Aguila(bless his heart) headed for the podium to give Reagan the caricature he had drawn of the President. Poor Dani was gang tackled by a horde of Secret Service before being allowed to make his presentation. Best White House garden event ever.
Dani was giving Reagan a copy of his “Taking Liberty with the Lady,” book with an anthology of cartoons from AAEC members and others. For all Dani’s pestering me to contribute, I (regrettably) never got around to it. I don’t remember him getting tackled, but he was shot a few times, which, y’know is pretty much SOP these days, unusual in those days.
